Innovative surfaces

Hytect technology is safely baked into the surface of the ceramic at high temperatures. When light falls on the finished tiles, active oxygen is released through photocatalysis. This creates the effect against bacteria and mold. At the same time, Hytect tiles naturally neutralize air pollutants. And because they are also hydrophilic, dirt and grease hardly stick to them. All these effects remain undiminished for the entire service life of the tiles. When Hytect surfaces come into contact with water, a fine film of water forms. Dirt is washed away and can be wiped off more easily.

Sustainable advantages

  • Hytect inhibits the growth of mold, bacteria and other microorganisms
  • Hytect makes it easier to clean the surface
  • Hytect helps to break down pleasure pollutants such as formaldehyde and odors

How Hytect works

How it works

Titanium dioxide (TiO2) is insolubly and permanently baked into the ceramic surface at high temperatures. As a catalyst that is not consumed, it triggers a light-activated reaction (photocatalysis) with oxygen and air humidity for practically the rest of its life. This produces activated oxygen and a hydrophilic, water-friendly ceramic surface. The activated oxygen now performs three crucial functions.

Antibacterial

In combination with light and oxygen, the surface of Hytect ceramic naturally releases active oxygen. This inhibits the growth of microorganisms directly on the surface.

Easy to clean

No drops of water remain on the Hytect ceramic. Instead, the water forms a wafer-thin film. This washes away dirt. For this reason, Hytect tiles are easier to clean.

Cleans the air

Hytect ceramic activates a natural process that purifies the air. This neutralizes air pollutants such as nitrogen oxides and formaldehydes as well as odours.
